What is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator?
The MBTI provides a useful measure of personality by looking at eight personality preferences that people use at different times.

Extraversion Energized by people and things in the external world
  • Introversion Energized by ideas or impressions in the inner world.
  • Sensing • Gathers details and facts that can be confirmed by experience.
  • Intuition • Gathers ideas and sees future possibilities.
  • Thinking • Makes decisions by logic and analysis.
  • Feeling • Makes decisions based on personal values.
  • Judging • Enjoys planning and deciding.
  • Perceiving • Enjoys remaining open to new options.

Using the MBTI, teams and individuals can assess their strengths and clarify biases in their working practices and environment. The MBTI can prove to be a valuable resource when an organization needs to form a project team and the synergy of this team and the interrelationship of its members are vital to the success of the project.
Skilled leaders are aware of their own personality preferences, as well as those of their team and colleagues. This includes: what motivates people to think and respond as they do (including decision making processes); how people deal with change, stress and conflict; and how people develop themselves as individuals and as members of a team. The MBTI is ideal for assessing their own and others' strengths, the different preferred styles of problem solving, and how to improve communication between individuals and company units.

  • The MBTI is the best because:
  • The MBTI is an indicator, not a test, so there are not right or wrong answers.
  • It sorts people into 16 broad personality types, each type has its own strengths and some minor pitfalls.
  • The MBTI looks only at normal behavior. It does not measure or detect psychiatric disturbances, trauma, intelligence or maturity.
  • Confidentiality. There is no need to tell anyone your results unless you want to.
  • The MBTI gives results that are practical and can be used in everyday life.

What are the benefits of knowing your type?
With professional interpretation you can use the information to better understand yourself, your motivations, your strengths, and potential areas for growth. It will help you to better understand and appreciate those who differ from you and those with whom you are most comfortable. This can greatly enhance the effectiveness of how people relate to one another.

  • You can expect it to:
  • Improve team dynamics and interpersonal relationships through personality awareness
  • Understand why people have personality preferences and how these preferences relate to the way people lead, make decisions, communicate, and work individually and in teams
  • Improve individual and team leadership capabilities
  • Improve personal, team and organizational communication processes and abilities
  • Improve negotiation capabilities through proactive and positive communication skills
  • Help you to establish and improve problem-solving techniques using the diversity and synergy of the team or work group
  • Aid in the understanding and improvement of how people respond to organizational change
